Statement of Qualifications

Candidate: Terry Kwast     Age: 56

I have been a businessman in Kings County for over 30 years. My business, Sawtelle & Rosprim Machine Shop serves primarily the agricultural and industrial markets in the area. My wife has also operated a retail business (Images/RadioShack) in downtown Corcoran for thirty years.

I have an A.S. degree in Engineering from Fresno City College and have additional units in Industrial and Mechanical Engineering from Fresno State.

I was elected four times to the Corcoran City Council and served as Mayor in 1992-1994. I served nine years on the Kings Waste & Recycling Authority and served one term as Chairman. I served a temporary term on the Kings County Planning Commission. I am currently the Vice President of the Corcoran Community Foundation, and serve as a member of the Corcoran District Hospital Foundation, and I am a charter member of CAST (Community and Schools Together). I am a former board member of the Corcoran Family YMCA and was President 1989-1990.

I was the Corcoran Family YMCA Volunteer of the Year, 1990 Corcoran Man of the Year, and my business was named the 2004 Lemoore Chamber of Commerce Ag Supporting Business of the Year.
